Description:
Interior and exterior renovations conducted in 2009 to 119 N. Washington and 205 West Bowie, to later include 211 West Bowie Street. These three properties were joined to form one large building. The interior and exterior were designed to mimic a British Pub. The renovations included an imported British bar, fireplace, Chesterfield sofas, Gothic church pews and original British decor from a building on London's exclusive Park Lane.
No expense was spared when creating the Dog & Bee Restaurant. On this corner of North Washington Street & West Bowie Streets, the Grand Opera House once stood. The Grand was the second opera house in Beeville, built in 1908 and owned by A.F. Rees and W.B. Patton. Manager Murray Edison procured the best Dramatic entertainment with live shows. During Christmas week, 1919, the three-story brick building was destroyed by the fire. The Greyhound Bus Station was in the building behind.
